About the Role: As part of the WarpStream team, you will develop an Apache Kafka-compatible data streaming platform that operates directly on object storage without local disks. This is a unique opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer to engage in a range of activities from enhancing our storage engine, improving the scalability of our multi-tenant control plane, and implementing new features like transactions and active-active multi-region clusters, to contributing to the developer console with HTML and JavaScript. In this role, you will tackle complex problems in distributed systems, working across various cloud providers like AWS, GCP, and Azure, while being part of a geographically diverse team. Your Responsibilities: Lead and execute complex technical projects from inception to completion. Develop mission-critical backend services that provide tangible value to our customers. Design, architect, and operationalize high-performance, scalable, reliable, and resilient systems. Troubleshoot and debug issues within a complex technical stack involving microservices, containers, and virtualization. Ensure that services meet availability and performance SLA commitments to our customers. Your Qualifications: 10+ years of experience in building, scaling, and supporting production backend systems with a focus on software engineering best practices such as thorough code reviews and documentation. Strong programming and algorithmic skills, proficient in a major language (Java, Go, C/C++, Python, etc.). Passion for distributed and storage systems. Outstanding project delivery and communication skills. Experience in maintaining operational excellence of large-scale production services. Team-oriented with strong technical leadership and mentorship capabilities. What Sets You Apart: Proven success in delivering large-scale, highly available systems.
