About the Role As a Senior Nuclear Engineer - Safety Analysis with Westinghouse Fauske & Associates, Inc. (FAI), you will support calculations and validation experiments to maintain nuclear safety performance engineering calculations and assessments for nuclear power plants, waste treatment and severe accident modeling. Severe accident modeling will include thermal-hydraulics modeling and analysis, heat and mass transfer radiological source term. You will report to the Manager of Experimental & Accident Modeling / Safety Analysis, Risk Applications, and Licensing. You will work hybrid 2 days per week on-site at our office in Bur Ridge, IL. Responsibilities Perform calculations and support validation experiments to maintain nuclear safety performance engineering calculations and assessments for nuclear power plants, waste treatment and severe accident modeling. Severe accident modeling will include thermal-hydraulics modeling and analysis, heat and mass transfer radiological source term. Support thermal hydraulic analysis for system performance, water hammer, and other thermal hydraulic phenomena. Support software development and implement mathematical models into a C++ codebase, Fortran, and Python Prepare documentation for evaluations Verify first of a kind evaluations Qualifications BS Engineering (Nuclear, Chemical or Mechanical) Minimum 6 plus years of applicable experience Mathematical and modeling such as: Thermodynamics Transport phenomena (momentum, heat, and mass) Kinetics Multi-phase flow modeling Beneficial: Modular Accident Analysis Program (MAAP) RELAP PRA (Probabilistic Risk Assessments) C++, Fortran, Visual Basic, MathCAD or Python Source Control Compensation We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $85,200 to $106,500 per year.
