About the Role:
A leading electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturing facility is actively seeking a Utility Engineer II to oversee and optimize the plant’s critical utility systems. This full-time role will ensure continuous and efficient operation of systems such as electricity, compressed air, water, steam, and HVAC that directly support manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will lead troubleshooting, optimize utility performance, and drive cost-saving initiatives while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Requirements Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operation, maintenance, and repair of all utility systems: electrical, compressed air, water, steam, HVAC.
Monitor utility consumption, identify cost-saving opportunities, and manage utility budgets.
Lead troubleshooting, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive actions for recurring utility issues.
Provide technical guidance on production processes, materials, and equipment for long-term plant planning.
Select, coordinate, and manage external contractors and vendors for maintenance, repair, and upgrades.
Negotiate service contracts and oversee vendor performance.
Manage emergency utility issues to minimize production downtime.
Maintain detailed records of utility system performance, maintenance, work orders, and regulatory compliance.
Regularly report utility performance and metrics to senior management.
Ensure work area cleanliness according to 5S3R Standards: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain; Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container.
Promote and maintain a safe work environment in accordance with company safety standards.
Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or related field.
Minimum 3 years of facilities, utilities, or plant operations experience in a production/manufacturing environment.
Ability to work 12-hour shifts when needed, utilizing PPE (safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, etc.).
Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Ability to stoop, bend, twist, reach overhead, and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience analyzing and processing facilities data.
Knowledge of manufacturing production processes.
PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) experience (preferred).
Six Sigma Certification (preferred).
DOE (Design of Experiments) knowledge (preferred).
CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and coding skills (preferred).
Bilingual Korean-English required
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and vendor negotiation skills.
Ability to manage multiple contractors and complex projects.
Benefits Compensation & Benefits:
Salary: $94,000 – $119,000 annually (depending on experience)
