Roles & Responsibilities
Provide high-quality, compassionate labor and delivery nursing care to birthing patients
Perform advanced fetal monitoring and interpret tracings using AWHONN AFM standards
Serve as charge nurse when assigned — coordinate care, lead the team, and prioritize patient safety
Assist in cesarean sections and care for newborns during and after delivery alongside RT and anesthesia
Respond to neonatal resuscitation events (NRP) and lead stabilization until transfer if needed
Accurately document patient care and interventions in Cerner EMR
Float to MedSurg as needed to support patient flow and unit needs, delivering safe, competent care

Requirements
Qualifications
Active RN license in good standing (state licensure required)
Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (Labor & Delivery preferred)
Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NRP, ACLS, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM)
COVID vaccination required per hospital policy
Demonstrated ability to function as a charge nurse and lead small teams
Comfortable working independently — role may be sole L&D nurse on site with on-call backup
Education
Active RN license required
BSN not required (BSN: No) — associate degree or diploma acceptable
Knowledge & Skills
Proficient in Cerner electronic medical record charting
Strong fetal monitoring interpretation and labor management skills
Neonatal resuscitation competency and experience working with RT in the delivery setting
C-section assistance experience and post-operative newborn care
Ability to float to MedSurg and perform related tasking when unit census requires
Excellent communication, prioritization, and leadership skills
