Shape the Future of Urban Mobility in Brookline The Town of Brookline is seeking a dynamic and analytical Transportation Engineer to help design and manage safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation systems in a thriving urban environment. Reporting to the Director of Engineering and Transportation, this professional role is responsible for improving traffic operations, overseeing signal timing and signage, and leading data-driven projects that enhance pedestrian and vehicular mobility throughout the community. Key Responsibilities: Analyze and improve traffic flow, pedestrian safety, parking systems, and signal operations. Lead data collection efforts and transform findings into actionable recommendations. Oversee signage and pavement marking inventories using GIS. Evaluate traffic calming and safety improvement strategies for neighborhoods and developments. Present engineering reports and recommendations to the Transportation Board and community stakeholders. Collaborate with Town boards, developers, and the public on transportation-related projects. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field. 5+ years’ experience in municipal or transportation engineering. Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) and eligibility for PE license. Strong knowledge of traffic engineering principles, signal systems, and relevant state/federal standards. Experience with traffic modeling and GIS tools a plus. Valid driver’s license required.
