Traffic Design Engineer (2-5 years)

Garver is seeking a highly motivated Traffic Design Engineer in our St. Louis, MO office to add to our growing traffic and transportation planning team. The ideal candidate would have 2-5 years of related experience, a sharp technical background, and strong passion for the profession. The position will offer the candidate an opportunity to play a key role in designing exciting projects for our DOT and municipal clients across our client footprint.
Applicants must have excellent problem-solving skills with a commitment to playing a key role of this extremely technical, highly productive design team. This position will be supervised by a Senior Project Manager and offers outstanding growth opportunity and career advancement to the right individual.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following:
Developing intersection improvements plans
Preparing traffic signal plans,
Preparing ITS plans
Preparing signing plans and pavement marking plans
Coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams and communicating concepts to clients
Additional duties include:
Assisting with project management to identify project scopes, fees, and monitoring project progress.
Preparing project proposals and giving interviews for project pursuits
Performing direct client marketing and developing relationships with existing clients within our service area
Mentoring less experienced staff
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree for an ABET accredited engineering program
Proficient in MicroStation
Well organized with great attention to detail Excellent communication skills with a willingness to lead meetings and presentations
EI/EIT certification or ability to obtain in 1 year
Working knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and FHWA Sign Book
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with OpenRoads, SignCAD, and AutoTurn
Experience with fiber optic communication system architecture
Experience with developing Systems Engineering and Concept of Operation reports
Experience in marketing and managing local government projects
Experience working with State Departments of Transportation and municipalities within the Garver footprint
