This test stand will be instrumental in developing and characterizing the next generation of tactical hybrid rocket engine propellants. The data collected will form the basis for designing the future of missile propulsion systems.

Ability to gain and maintain a SECRET clearance if required.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct hybrid rocket engine tests.
  • Perform test stand and engine checkouts.
  • Generate and track test plans to support engine test campaigns.
  • Support test stand build-up and testing operations.
  • Oversee technician and contractor activities to build, upgrade, and maintain test facilities.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain instrumentation and hardware systems.
  • Generate and update procedures, configuration files, and test sequences.
  • Develop methods to increase test cadence, test fidelity, and test stand capability.
  • Identify and communicate safety, technical, cost and schedule risks.
  • Support technical design trade studies and test article development.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • BSci in Aerospace Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in the design, manufacturing, and operation of propulsion test stands
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering standards and technical requirements, including plumbing and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Experience programming in LabVIEW or similar software.
  • Experience with integration of data acquisition systems and sensors into a test stand.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as necessary.
  • US Person as defined in 22 CFR Part 120.15 (U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, and those given asylum in the United States, and temporary residents granted amnesty) since work includes ITAR controlled technical data.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MSci in Aerospace Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
  • Working knowledge of hybrid rocket engine concepts.
  • Understanding of appropriate test methodologies for rocket engine hardware.
  • Familiarity with configuration management software and procedures.
  • Familiarity with material compatibilities for oxidizers.
  • Experience handling energetic materials.
  • Experience in leading technical interchange/communications with vendors and partners.
