Position Summary:
The company is looking for a hands-on Technical Sales Engineer to grow and support their customer base in key industrial manufacturing sectors. This role focuses on technical consultation and relationship management - nurturing existing accounts, re-engaging past customers, and uncovering new opportunities through research and industry outreach.
As a trusted technical advisor, you'll support manufacturers in solving complex production challenges using the company's cutting-edge sensor and non-destructive testing technologies. Based near Cleveland, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy while working closely with engineering and sales teams, both locally and internationally. Reporting directly to the German headquarters, you'll play a key role in bridging technical expertise with customer needs.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Account Management (30%): Analyze existing and inactive customer data to identify growth opportunities. Re-engage past clients with updated solutions tailored to current needs.
- Technical Support (30%): Understand customer manufacturing processes and provide product recommendations based on technical requirements.
- Customer Engagement (20%): Re-establish contact with key decision-makers assessing their needs and identifying potential solutions.
- Sales Pipeline Support (20%): create a pipeline of potential opportunities and follow-up leads to convert projects to commit as forecast. Provide accurate forecasts Provide accurate sales forecasts and updates directly to the executive team at the German HQ.
- Contribute to the company's growing marketing and brand positioning efforts by participating in select trade shows, client site visits, and industry events.
What Our Client Company Is Looking For:
- 5+ years technical sales experience with consultative selling of complex products
- Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred; alternatively, an associate degree combined with relevant hands-on experience in sheet metal processing, automotive, or automation industries is also valued
- Strong understanding of industrial manufacturing and ability to translate technical features into benefits
- Proficient in calculating pricing elements such as discounts, commissions, and other financial figures
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service orientation
- Experience with CRM and ERP systems is required, preferably Quickbooks
- Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a dynamic environment
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and take ownership
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regionally
