The Systems Engineer/Human Factors will support the ML2 Project at the Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, FL. The Systems/Human Factors Engineer will be responsible for understanding the basic systems engineering work processes and modeling tools, and tools, and performing systems engineering tasks having a medium degree of complexity. The Engineer will be responsible for reviewing and checking systems engineering documentation. Work will also involve the integration and review of Human Factor requirements into engineering products.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Establish means of verifying requirements implementation, including acceptance criteria. Prepare system and facility design criteria documents. Document and process Human Factors findings. Perform walkdowns of hardware to verify human factors requirements are properly implemented. Review design products for implementation of Human Factors Principles. Assess hardware against established Human Factors requirements. Document and process Human Factors findings. Support system-level design verification, requirements verification, test requirements specification, and requirements flow down and traceability. Perform impact analyses for proposed requirement changes. Perform assessments to validate and verify implementation and traceability of requirements into design. Participate in technical discussions to resolve system design issues. Research and document system operations and limits from the review of design and basis documents and from discussions with system designers. Demonstrate leadership qualities with emphasis on continuous improvement and team building, and interpersonal communication skills. Other duties as assigned.

This position requires US Citizenship due to the sensitivity of customer related information. Must be able to obtain and maintain any security clearances required for this position. Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of systems engineering, or a related field. Must have 9+ years of recent and related technical work experience. In lieu of degree: candidates with 15+ years of recent and related work experience will be considered. Must have or be able to obtain Engineer-In-Training (EIT) within 12 months of hire. Possess an awareness of national codes and standards, environmental regulations, and their influence on design. Experience facilitating multi-discipline meetings to resolve technical and related requirements compliance issues. Knowledge of industry /regulatory codes and standards, and design criteria pertinent to the systems engineering and human factors discipline.
DESIRED: Construction site familiarity. Familiarity with implementation of requirements in design. Experience in performing design and/or requirements change impact analysis. Experience with MIL STD 1472G DOD Design Criteria Standard - Human Engineering. Experience with HF-STD-001 FAA Human Factors Design Standard.
WORK LOCATION: This position is located onsite. This position may require some travel.

Must be organized with good time management skills. Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task. Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time). Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
