Job Summary: The Navy System Engineer I provides technical support for Navy programs, assisting in the design, development, integration, testing, and sustainment of shipboard systems. This entry-level engineering role works under the guidance of senior engineers to analyze system requirements, troubleshoot issues, and help ensure Navy systems meet mission objectives. The position requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to work in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. As with any position, additional expectations exist. Some of these are, but are not limited to, adhering to normal working hours, meeting deadlines, following company policies as outlined by the Employee Handbook, communicating regularly with assigned supervisor(s), and staying focused on the assigned tasks including company meetings, and completing other tasks as assigned. Responsibilities: Assist in system design, development, and integration for Navy shipboard platforms Conduct engineering analyses and develop technical documentation, including system specifications, interface control documents, and test procedures Support testing and evaluation of systems to verify compliance with requirements Analyze system performance and troubleshoot technical issues Participate in system installations and provide technical support during field activities Assist with lifecycle support, including upgrades, modifications, and obsolescence management Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, technicians, and program managers Ensure compliance with DoD and Navy standards, regulations, and cybersecurity guidelines Prepare and present engineering reports, briefings, and technical reviews to stakeholders Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field 0–2 years of relevant engineering experience (internships or co-op experience acceptable) Familiarity with systems engineering principles and lifecycle processes Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Willingness to travel occasionally to support testing or integration events Must be a U.S. Citizen Active DoD Secret Clearance OR the ability to reactivate a DoD Clearance held within the last 24 months OR current Interim Clearance If applicable: If you are or have been recently employed by the U.S. government, a post-employment ethics letter will be required if employment with VSolvit is offered Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a DoD, Navy, or defense contracting environment Knowledge of shipboard systems (e.g., combat systems, navigation, communications, power systems) Basic understanding of cybersecurity compliance requirements (e.g., RMF, STIGs, NIST 800-171) Exposure to Navy Data Environments (e.g., NIWC systems, NAVSEA tools) Active Secret clearance
