Supplier Engineer III - External Operations

At Boston Scientific, as part of the External Operations team supporting Sourced Finished Medical Devices, the Supplier Engineer assists with the design and development of manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems to meet manufacturing delivery targets, minimize costs, and ensure product quality at BSC Finished Good Suppliers. This role is responsible for partnering with these suppliers to evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering methods to problem solve and implement changes that drive improvements.

Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Partnering with senior engineers to lead and support projects for product qualification, change management, process development, cost reduction, capacity management, and all related documentation activities
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to qualify and improve supplier processes; submit and manage manufacturing change requests, as necessary
  • Troubleshooting new and existing product issues related to design, material, or processes; analyze and interpret test results and communicate findings to key stakeholders
  • Collaborating with suppliers and extended team for investigation of device issues or supply constraints through use of problem-solving, process capability studies, Six Sigma and Value Improvement projects, data analytics and/or process documentation
  • Ensuring corrective actions are identified, implemented and controlled by suppliers

What We're Looking For:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in any engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering role, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience managing technical problems and implementing solutions
  • Ability to travel up to 25% (domestic and international)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in medical device or similarly regulated industry, preferably working with suppliers and/or contract manufacturers
  • Demonstrated understanding of change management process
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to develop internal and external relationships
  • Organized and detail-oriented; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Understanding of statistical methods, problem-solving techniques, lean manufacturing and six sigma methodologies
  • Understanding of validation, risk management documentation (Design and Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis and Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis), and product lifecycle
