Structural Engineer Heavy Industrial
An established engineering consulting firm with a strong regional presence is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to support a growing portfolio of industrial and heavy manufacturing projects across the Southeast. This is an outstanding opportunity to work on high-profile projects with a flexible hybrid schedule and excellent long-term potential.
What You'll Do
- Perform preliminary and detailed structural design for heavy industrial structures, including steel buildings, concrete foundations, and specialized equipment supports
- Conduct advanced structural analysis, calculations, and technical reviews
- Support foundation design (shallow & deep), seismic design, and structural condition assessments
- Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, proposals, and contract documentation
- Provide leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and team members
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other disciplines to ensure high-quality project delivery
- Support client relationships and contribute to growing the firm's market presence
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- ~ 37 years or so of experience in heavy industrial structural design (consulting background preferred)
- EIT required (PE license a plus)
- Deep understanding of US steel design codes; familiarity with Canadian codes a plus
- Experience with seismic design and foundation design for buildings, industrial structures, and heavy equipment
- RISA 3D experience highly desirable
- Industry experience in Pulp & Paper and/or Chemical Manufacturing strongly preferred
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Position Details
- Pay: ~ $60$72/hr | ~ $120K$150K DOE
- Term: ~ 6-month Contract-to-Hire or Direct Hire
- Schedule: MonThurs 9-hour days, Fri 4-hour day (Fridays remote)
- Location: Hybrid Alpharetta, GA office; flexibility for remote work after onboarding (must be ATL-based for occasional in-office meetings)
- Travel: Minimal (project site visits as needed)
- Background check (7 years) and 9-panel drug screen required
- Work attire: Business casual / jeans
