The Structural Engineer 3 will be responsible for participating in the design, development, modification, and evaluation of civil/structural components and processes. The successful candidate will lead and assist in producing construction drawings, project schedules, models, calculations, material requisitions, studies, reports, presentations, and proposals.
Responsibilities
Participate in the design, development, modification, and analysis of civil/structural components and processes.
Prepare or assist in preparing construction drawings, project schedules, graphic presentations, steel and concrete calculations, and material requisitions.
Check manufacturers’ drawings and data for compliance with specifications and design drawings.
Engage in early project involvement with engineering firms, clients, and general contractors.
Lead cross-functional teams to achieve mutual objectives.
Design minor structures and portions of buildings.
Maintain technical logs and records.
Coordinate work and collaborate with other engineering disciplines.
Develop and present materials as needed.
Assist in constructability reviews and construction administration.
Determine appropriate use of structural elements based on load or stress requirements.
Create civil/structural designs and drawings using 2-D / 3-D CAD tools.
Support procurement and subcontract requisitions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, preferably Civil or Structural Engineering, with 5+ years of experience.
Master’s degree in Engineering or related field with 3+ years of experience.
Experience in design and review of structural engineering and construction projects.
PE license in VA or willingness to obtain one.
Proficiency in CAD & Revit software.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
Effective communication skills for collaboration with teams and clients.
Desired Experience
Modular construction delivery experience.
Experience with SolidWorks.
PE license.
Project management experience is a plus.
Abilities
Ability to work with extended screen time and sit for long periods.
Manual dexterity for manipulating objects and using a keyboard.
Effective listening, speaking, reading, and comprehension skills.
Ability to apply rules to solve specific problems.
Understanding of speech and communication.
