Who We Are
We have an exciting opportunity for an innovative and consumer-obsessed Staff Software Engineer to join our Engineering team here at Realtor.com. The charter for this team is to build and deliver innovative solutions across the real-estate ecosystem that deepen relationships with industry players, consumers, and brokers/agents. We are in the starting phase of the first product that will change the experience of agents and consumers through the home buying journey.
What You’ll Do:
Use technology to create innovation that delights consumers, and agents, and disrupts the industry
Define work and drive technical decisions for complex features in the consumer and agent facing experiences
Collaborate across functional teams to solve business problems, and lead each step of the product development process: from ideation to release; rapidly prototyping, experimenting and delivering solutions that scale to support millions of users
Connect business and consumer problems to proposed technical solutions. Work with product and other stakeholders to rapidly deliver high-impact value and measure using data
Define and evolve the architecture, design, and implementation of web-based consumer and agent-facing experiences, following clean architecture principles and modern frontend best practices.
Make effective and timely technology choices for implementing solutions, often without complete information.
Drive a stable and scalable web architecture using modern frontend patterns to deliver a first-class user experience across consumer and agent-facing applications. Champion the adoption of design patterns, coding standards, and frontend development best practices.
Help improve code generation and quality by utilizing agentic AI and best practices
Mentor and coach junior engineers
What You’ll Bring:
8+ years of experience in software architecture, design and development, with specialty in web frontend or full stack applications
Experience with modern frontend frameworks/libraries (React, Svelte, Vue, NextJS, Remix, Astro, etc.)
Experience with TypeScript frontend web or app application development
Experience designing and implementing micro-frontend architectures to support team autonomy and independent deployments.
Good knowledge of distributed systems architecture from one of more cloud providers, preferable AWS, utilizing infrastructure as code
Experience building maintainable and scalable systems
Experience with agentic AI code generation is a plus
A data-driven approach with strong results and outcome-oriented focus, understanding the value derived from rapidly shipping code and learning/iterating on the results
Strong empathy for our consumers and agents, and a passion for exceeding their expectations
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, connecting directly and effectively with cross-functional technical and non-technical stakeholders at various levels
Ability to decompose complex business problems and communicate solutions succinctly
A passion for learning, continuous improvement, sharing, and working in a team environment
Independent and can manage your own projects and time with ease, all the while setting and managing stakeholder expectations
Bachelor degree in Computer Science / Engineering or related field, or equivalent professional experience
