Staff Electrical Engineer - Substation (Northeast Region) Join to apply for the Staff Electrical Engineer - Substation (Northeast Region) role at Burns & McDonnell Job Description Responsible for substation engineering and consulting services for clients across the US and internationally. Main responsibilities include creating electrical protection & control and/or physical layout design deliverables. Projects range in size, complexity, and voltage class from small distribution facility upgrades to large transmission projects. This position can influence the future of the resiliency, reliability, and economic operation of the electric grid. Responsibilities Design of high voltage (13kV-500kV) electrical substations, including yard layouts, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, and associated systems. Preparation of proposals, scope development, engineering cost estimates, and schedules. Protection and control design, including panel arrangements, schematics, and wiring. Conducting engineering studies and preparing related reports. Preparing equipment specifications for procurement and testing. Coordinating with other departments and providing guidance to team members. Client communication and quality reviews. Field support during construction and involvement in business development. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program. Minimum 3 years related experience (Master's degree may substitute one year). Completion of FE exam preferred. Proficiency with NEC, IEEE, and ANSI standards. Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $120,000 - $170,000 annually, plus bonus and benefits including insurance, disability, wellness programs, ESOP, and 401(k). Additional Information Location: US-PA-Conshohocken, with other locations in CT, MA, NJ. Full-time, travel required (~15%).
