3 Days Old
What to Expect The Power Electronics Controls and Modeling team is responsible for dynamics modeling, algorithm design, and controller implementation for switching power converters. The team's responsibility spans a wide spectrum of power conversion systems required for both automotive and energy products. Tesla is seeking a power electronics controls engineer to join the team in developing high-performance controls for a wide spectrum of ac and dc products including chargers, grid-tied inverters, and resonant dc-dc converters. The engineer is expected to perform controls design through all stages starting with topology discussions, concept stage, modeling, implementation, and validation.
Do you have the skills to fill this role Read the complete details below, and make your application today.
What You'll Do Outline controller requirements based on system performance requirements
Evaluate new topologies for controllability and fit to system needs
Specify microcontroller requirements and drive part selection
Develop controls strategy and define the supporting algorithms
Develop dynamic models of the system, and tune controller algorithms accordingly to optimize performance
Translate algorithms into software implementation, and work with the firmware team to integrate that into the firmware framework
Test, validate, and troubleshoot controller implementation
Develop and utilize computer simulations (Matlab/Simulink, HiL, SiL) to investigate new algorithms, modifications, or corner-case events
Support safety/compliance testing
What You'll Bring Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent experience
Strong analytical skills with solid device, circuit, and controls theory fundamentals
Strong hands-on testing and troubleshooting skills
Experience with embedded firmware development for real-time controls systems
