Job Summary/Purpose: The Senior Network Engineer Contractor will be responsible for designing and building the TierPoint network. The ideal candidate will demonstrate senior-level expertise in multiple SME areas including network routing, switching, firewalls, network automation, and virtual environments. They should be able to work closely with internal and external customers, translating complex technical issues into understandable language. This role involves leading deployment projects, updating systems, and maintaining documentation.
Responsibilities: Provide quality internal customer service aligned with company values.
Complete projects on time, breaking down large projects into manageable components with proper documentation.
Communicate clearly and promptly with internal customers about request statuses.
Develop comprehensive documentation of environments, including network connections, IP/port assignments, firewall configurations, and customer-specific requirements.
Serve as SME for assigned projects and assist other engineers to ensure smooth transitions into Tierpoint EOC and Managed Service Operations.
Write and review Method of Procedures (MOPs) as part of change management.
Support the Tierpoint core network infrastructure and recommend improvements for network performance.
Provide technical assistance to engineering teams.
Participate in team meetings, providing project updates and next steps, and alerting management to obstacles.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Requirements: 8+ years of hands-on network/security experience in IT operations.
Experience with ticketing and project management tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Expertise in core networking technologies: BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Layer 2 technologies (Spanning Tree, EVPN, VXLAN, MPLS).
Experience with virtual environments, especially NSX-T.
8+ years in support and design of networking technologies.
6+ years in network security and firewall support (Cisco ASA, Fortinet Fortigate).
Strong troubleshooting skills with packet analysis tools like Wireshark.
Proficiency in Python, Jinja, Ansible, Git.
Experience creating design documents, Visio diagrams, and process documentation.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in MS Office and Windows applications.
Preferred Experience: Supporting large data center infrastructure.
Supporting multi-tenant networking environments.
Supporting load balancer technologies (Kemp, F5, A10).
Knowledge of network monitoring tools (SNMP, NetFlow, syslog).
Strong understanding of DNS and various operating systems (Windows, Linux).
Advanced industry certifications.
