Sr. Engineer II – Power Electronics Hardware
The Sr. Engineer II – Power Electronics Hardware is responsible for electronic hardware design to support in-house development of advanced Powertrain modules. Examples of such modules are Inverters, Powertrain Control Module, Battery Management Module, DC-DC and AC-DC Converters.
Responsibilities (included, but are not limited to):
Develop specification/requirement for developing power stage, control board and gate driver board of different modules through cascading the requirement from the design specification.
Decompose system level requirements to drive component level design requirements
This role can include bespoke designs, upgrade of existing designs, and applications engineering
Support Powertrain team from specification to design, prototype, and investigation on manufacturing for quality issues and development of a high-performance powertrain.
Select components for the design and work with suppliers to develop advanced components.
Optimize designs for system performance, quality, DFM/DFA and cost
Lead and participate in Design Reviews
Test and debug electrical hardware at circuit board and assembled product level
Develop automation testing setup for module level validation.
Support SW (BSW & ASW) engineers for hardware-software integration work.

Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (PhD preferred)
Excellent oral and written communication skills
5+ years of directly related Electrical Engineering experience required (Automotive experience preferred)
Understanding of global industry standards (IEC, ISO) and trends to provide the latest technology solutions
Experience in PCBA layout for optimal placement strategies for better manufacturability, power/signal routing and EMC optimization
Experience in HV Power Electronics engineering and thermal management, such as 400V, and >800V voltage levels and component selections
Experience in IGBT, Si/SiC, and GaN MOSFET WBG technology and working knowledge with IGBT and MOSFET, gate driver circuit design
Design power and control circuit components including LV power supply, EMI filters, magnetics, semiconductors, gate drives, sensing, protection circuitry and control logic
Knowledge of Functional safety ISO26262
Hands-on hardware experience and strong understanding of power converter (AC/DC, DC/DC & DC/AC) and OBC design
Familiar with schematic capture and power converter circuit simulation tools such as Altium/MATLAB/PSIM/PSpice/MathCad. Perform Circuit Simulation, WCA analysis.
Experience in embedded software development with TI/Freescale/TriCore/DSP 32-bit processors or FPGA;
Experience in microprocessors, such as Infineon tri-core family, NxP MCUs
Experience in data logging with Vector CAN tools
Experience in automation testing equipment with LabView
Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015), as applicable

Compensation:
$107,000 - 135,000 /annual salary. Compensation will vary DOE.
