In this role, the Senior Electrical Transmission Engineer will lead the design and technical review of both underground and overhead transmission systems ranging from 69kV to 500kV. They will be responsible for developing and reviewing engineering drawings, cable layouts, and routing plans, while also conducting field visits to assess site conditions, support installation activities, and resolve technical issues. The engineer will coordinate closely with internal Con Edison teams, contractors, and vendors to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines. A key part of the role includes ensuring all work complies with Con Edison standards, industry codes, and safety regulations. Additionally, the engineer will mentor junior team members, provide technical leadership on complex projects, support project planning and budgeting efforts, and participate in design reviews, stakeholder meetings, and the preparation of regulatory documentation.

Required Skills & Experience
58 years of experience in electrical transmission engineering
Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering
Experience with underground transmission systems (5+ years preferred)
Familiarity with voltage levels from 69kV to 500kV
Strong understanding of design, installation, and maintenance practices
Proficiency in ratings analysis (e.g., facility ratings, cable capacity)
o Tools: CYME / CYMCAP, ETAP, or similar
Expertise in HPFF cable systems, with experience in Solid Dielectric (SD) systems also acceptable
Ability to work in-office at least 3 days/week
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
o Utility experience is highly preferred
o Transmission cable manufacturing experience, Mechanical or hydraulic experience (e.g., thermodynamics, fluid-cooled systems) experience is a plus
Experience with distribution voltage-class systems (545kV)
Knowledge of Overhead (OH) transmission systems
PE license or actively pursuing licensure
Familiarity with Con Edison standards and NYC permitting processes
