The Opportunity:

Are you energized by solving complex technical puzzles in large-scale systems? We're looking for a highly skilled Sr. Backend Engineer for our API team who excels at designing, building, and stabilizing intricate backend services. You'll use your deep PHP/Laravel 10+ and AWS knowledge to develop and maintain critical APIs within an environment featuring both modern and legacy components. This role requires exceptional debugging skills, a focus on resilience, and the ability to navigate and improve complex, interconnected systems while leveraging modern tools like AI assistants.

What You'll Do: • Architect & Build: Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable, and secure backend services and RESTful APIs using PHP/Laravel. • Code Craftsmanship: Write clean, maintainable, and rigorously tested code (Unit, Integration, E2E) adhering to best practices (PHPUnit proficiency essential). • Leverage AI Tools: Effectively utilize AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to enhance productivity, code quality, and accelerate delivery. • Cloud Collaboration: Partner closely with DevOps to deploy, monitor, and maintain applications on AWS, ensuring performance, scalability, and troubleshooting infrastructure issues. • Complex Debugging & Optimization: Diagnose and resolve intricate technical issues spanning multiple systems; optimize applications for speed, resilience, and scalability. • Own & Deliver: Participate actively in the full Agile lifecycle, taking ownership of tasks from conception through deployment and support, navigating dependencies effectively. • Mentor & Collaborate: Communicate technical designs clearly, uphold coding standards, and provide guidance to junior team members. • Security Implementation: Integrate robust security measures and data protection strategies. • Support Critical Systems: Participate in an on-call rotation for essential services.

What You Bring: • Senior-Level Experience: Proven success (5+ years) in backend engineering roles, delivering complex projects. • PHP/Laravel Mastery: Deep expertise in PHP and the Laravel framework (Laravel 10+ strongly preferred). • AWS Proficiency: Hands-on experience developing and deploying applications on AWS cloud services. • Effective AI Tool User: Experience actively leveraging AI-assisted development tools to achieve tangible productivity and quality improvements. • API Design Acumen: Strong understanding of RESTful principles; experience with microservices is a plus. • Database Skills: Expertise with relational databases (MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and caching strategies. • Testing Advocate: Solid experience with various testing methodologies and tools (PHPUnit required). • Modern Tooling: Proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and modern IDEs. • Resilient Problem Solver: Excellent analytical skills coupled with the ability to troubleshoot complex, interconnected systems and persevere through technical challenges and environment instability. • Strong Collaborator: Excellent communication skills; ability to work effectively in a fastpaced, dependency-heavy Agile team.

Highly Desirable: • Migrating legacy PHP applications to modern Laravel. • Experience with Node.js, JavaScript, or TypeScript. • Familiarity with queuing systems (Laravel Horizon, AWS SQS). • E-commerce (subscription/auto-ship) system experience. • Knowledge of OAuth, JWT.
