Sr Advanced Electrical Engineer
New Today
Resideo is seeking a Sr Advanced Electrical Engineer to design and develop next-generation thermostats and connected smart home IoT devices. This role is a hardware-focused electrical engineering position, responsible for architecting and delivering robust electronic designs across microcontrollers, high-speed digital, analog, and RF subsystems. You’ll own key design decisions, lead NPI (New Product Introduction) projects from concept to mass production, and play a strategic role shaping the future of smart home technology.
JOB DUTIES:
Lead Electrical Hardware Design: Own the hardware design process for assigned projects, including schematic creation, PCB layout oversight, BOM release, prototype builds, and debugging.
System Architecture Authority: Contribute to electrical architecture strategy for new products, making key design decisions and setting hardware direction for future platforms while maintaining a system-level perspective that encompasses mechanical and firmware engineering.
Testing and Validation: Develop and lead test plans, direct technicians in executing tests, analyze data, and ensure designs meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with embedded software, mechanical, and RF teams, as well as global project leaders, to deliver integrated and reliable designs.
Mentorship: Coach junior engineers, lead design reviews, and foster best practices in electrical design and validation. Provide work direction to junior engineers and technicians.
Documentation and Traceability: Ensure thorough and accurate documentation of designs, test results, and design changes for future reference and compliance audits.
Technology and Innovation: Research new components, tools, and methods to improve performance, reduce cost, and enhance reliability in next-gen smart home products.
Global Engagement: Represent hardware engineering in design reviews and decision-making meetings with geographically distributed teams and stakeholders.
YOU MUST HAVE:
10+ years of experience as an electrical engineer, with deep technical expertise and experience with microcontrollers (MCU), microprocessors (MPU), high-speed digital memory, analog circuits, and mixed-signal circuit design
5+ years of experience with new product development
WE VALUE:
Full-cycle hardware design experience, including schematic capture, PCB layout collaboration, debugging, and validation testing
Expertise in embedded system interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, USB, Ethernet) and PCB layout best practices.
Proficiency with EDA tools (Mentor Graphics)
Experience with RF and IoT, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and sub-GHz radios
Strong debugging skills using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and other lab tools
Proven ability to influence architecture decisions and set design direction for new platforms
Excellent communication skills, able to clearly convey technical information to peers, management, and cross-functional teams
Prior experience in leading design reviews, mentoring engineers, or coordinating technical deliverables
Familiarity with regulatory and compliance testing, such as EMC/EMI and safety certifications
Experience with statistical methods and tools (DOE, MSE, Gage R&R, regression analysis); Six Sigma Black Belt certification or equivalent experience is a strong plus.
Experience with firmware and BSP support is a bonus.
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU:
Work in a Hybrid setting (3 days in office, 2 days remote)
Enjoy work-life balance with generous vacation time that can be scheduled with manager approval based on business priorities and personal needs, without pre-set maximums.
Immediate eligibility for Medical, Dental, Vision insurance and 401K.
