: The Software Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee, WI will create and support software applications for corporate and field users. Apply engineering best practices to analyze and develop software solutions. Develop software using established development and continuous integration practices. Collaborate with teams to design, develop, and deploy software changes to various team-supported applications. Utilize established monitoring and automation processes. Conduct thorough code evaluation to ensure compliance with established coding standards and best practices. Build front-end and back-end applications (microservice and database). Follow Agile scum software development lifecycle with daily scrum, planning, and Sprint retro sessions. Participate in bi-weekly refinement meetings. Utilize development skills including REACT, NodeJS, Java, Terraform, and Postgres SQL. Use software tools such as GitLab, Postman, DBeaver, and Kube Config Manager. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that may arise during development and deployment of software projects. Provide recommendations to increase efficiency to current established development and continuous integration practices. Utilize monitoring tools including Dynatrace and Kibana (ELK) and database tools including DBeaver. Design, build, and maintain batch jobs. Build scalable projects from ground up. Develop automation testing using Jest snapshot test and Junit. Collaborate in design discussions with cross functional teams on RestfulAPI backend service and database. Work on providing B2B engineering solutions to integrate external applications into internal applications. Prioritize initiatives and ensure solutions are met based on business needs and requirements. Lead projects or project steps within larger project. Telecommuting permitted. Salary $109,779- $189,540 per year. Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field plus 1 year (or a bachelor’s degree plus 5 years) of experience as a software engineer or related occupation. Experience must include 1 year with each of the following: (1) continuous integration and deployment concepts and tools including SonarQube and Git; (2) Java, JavaScript, and Python; (3) AWS; (4) PostgreSQL; (5) Jira; (6) database tools including DBeaver; (7) supporting applications and identifying required process improvements and automations; and (8) writing SQL queries, building data extraction processes, and creating APIs to perform data analysis, data integrations, and reporting.
