Base pay range $75.00/hr - $80.00/hr Direct message the job poster from Optomi Senior Cloud and Infrastructure Recruiter at Optomi Site Reliability Engineer (AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes) *6-month contract-to-hire* Hybrid: 2-3x a week onsite in Baltimore, MD, Evansville, IN, or Charlotte, NC Optomi, in partnership with our premier client in the financial services industry, is seeking a skilled Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our clients team and support a large-scale production environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring system reliability, performance, and scalability by responding to incidents, optimizing infrastructure, and enhancing CI/CD practices. This role requires a hands-on approach to Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS, and production support operations. Key Responsibilities: Serve as a first responder for production incidents and outages. Provide day-to-day production support across a broad range of applications and services. Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and application issues in a large-scale environment. Manage and optimize Kubernetes environments, including describing pods, restarts, and command-line operations. Write and maintain Terraform modules from scratch for infrastructure provisioning. Support and improve CI/CD pipelines (primarily Jenkins and GitHub Actions). Work with deployment best practices and pipeline tuning for efficiency and reliability. Ensure compliance with operational procedures and change management processes. Collaborate across teams to support roadmaps, incident resolution, and infrastructure evolution. Utilize AWS services including EC2, EKS, Load Balancers, CloudWatch, and standard AWS tooling. Monitor and log using tools like CloudWatch, ELK Stack, and Grafana. Develop scripts and automation using Python and Bash. Coordinate with the broader SRE team as they scale, transitioning from primary POC responsibilities. Required Qualifications: Proven experience in a production support/SRE role in a high-availability environment. Deep hands-on expertise with Kubernetes (K8s) in production. Strong experience with Terraform, including writing reusable modules. Proficiency in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and familiarity with Ansible. Strong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure and application layers. In-depth knowledge of AWS services (EC2, EKS, Load Balancing, CloudWatch, etc.). Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Grafana, ELK stack). Scripting skills in Python and Bash. Ability to follow established operational and change management procedures. Experience supporting monolithic and microservices-based applications.
