Xometry is seeking an experienced and charismatic engineer for a key customer-facing Solutions Engineer role. This position supports Sales by providing insights, feedback, and sharing knowledge gained from the aerospace and defense engineering and manufacturing community. The role combines customer engagement, technical expertise, and project management, reporting into the Pre-Sales Engineering team, which is jointly led by Sales and Operations. Responsibilities: Customer Engagement and Sales: Partner with Account Executives to drive account growth and retention Identify, analyze, organize, and execute major projects Participate in onsite visits with customers alongside Account Executives when appropriate Proactively identify and resolve manufacturing challenges, including Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Stay informed about upcoming customer projects and initiatives to align Xometry's capabilities accordingly Gather customer insights and feedback to shape sales strategies Pre-Sales Engineering: Support Pre-Sales Engineering with knowledge gathering, analysis, and preparing accurate, competitive quotes Integrate customer insights, partner knowledge, and system data to address customer needs and guide projects to completion Manage and oversee complex opportunities and projects Qualifications: Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in aerospace and defense engineering and manufacturing Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required Experience using Xometry's services as a customer is preferred; partner experience is a plus Deep understanding of methods, materials, culture, and products from organizations such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Blue Origin, Anduril, General Dynamics, Moog, SpaceX Strong knowledge of manufacturing principles, including drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT) Extensive experience in CNC machining; familiarity with composites, plastics, harnesses, and sheet metal fabrication is advantageous Knowledge of ISO9001, AS9100d, ITAR, NIST, and other compliance and certification standards Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, capable of functioning effectively in remote and digital environments Willingness and ability to travel to customer and partner sites, typically 25-35% Located in Mountain or Pacific time zones Experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite #LI-Remote Xometry is an equal opportunity employer.
