This role is on Quip, part of the Slack Productivity organization. The Quip Product & Services team is responsible for all parts of the user and admin facing Quip platform including the macOS and iOS Quip apps, as well as the Quip APIs. Quip is also the backbone of Slack Canvas. At Quip, our priorities are multi pronged: first and foremost we preserve our customer's love and trust by continuing to provide them with the reliable, secure Quip suite they've come to love and depend on over many years. We do that by thoughtfully investing in long-term initiatives to harden all parts of the Quip platform while proactively pursuing opportunities to reduce operational and maintenance costs. Secondly, we leverage our longstanding customer relationships to identify the most helpful productivity use cases and guide the design and development of Slack's productivity features. We are looking for Frontend Engineers focused on macOS and iOS development in Objective-C to develop and support Quip apps, ensuring customer satisfaction through strategic long-term investment balanced with maintenance cost reduction. We build our app using reliable tools, including Objective-C and C++. Our web and mobile frontend is in TypeScript; expertise here is a plus, but familiarity with other web languages is acceptable. Were a collaborative team working with product managers, designers, frontend, iOS, Android, automation, and quality engineers to improve Quip and Slack. What you will be doing: Brainstorming with team members to conceptualize and build new features for our large user base. Contributing heavily to impactful projects. Owning features or systems and maintaining their health. Assisting support and operations teams with production issues. Mentoring engineers and reviewing code. Improving engineering standards, tooling, and processes. What you should have: 5+ years of professional web application development experience. Experience with iOS and macOS development in Objective-C; experience in TypeScript, Python, or C++ is a bonus. Ability to contribute to technical architecture and decisions. Ability to write understandable, testable, maintainable code. Strong communication skills. Solid fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, and information retrieval. A related technical degree.
