The mission of the Platform Product Group engineers is to create a trusted, scalable, and compliant platform that operates with speed, efficiency, and quality. Our teams are responsible for building and maintaining the foundational platforms critical to Coinbase's success, including Product Foundations (Identity, Payment, Risk, Proofing & Regulatory, Finhub), Machine Learning, Customer Experience, and Infrastructure. The Data Platform team is dedicated to building and managing systems that centralize all internal and third-party data at Coinbase. This allows teams across the company to efficiently access, process, and transform data for analytics, machine learning, and enhancing end-user experiences. As an engineer on our team, you will be involved in the complete lifecycle of our systems, from foundational processing and data storage to scalable pipeline construction and the development of frameworks and applications that facilitate data access. Key Responsibilities: Design, build, and operate our core data-heavy services: storage solutions (cloud data warehouse, data lake), orchestration (Airflow), batch processing (Spark, SQL), streaming services (Kafka), query federation, caching, time-series databases, graph databases, and real-time event aggregation platforms.

Create and maintain data integration and processing SDKs for internal services and product teams at Coinbase.

Develop self-service applications that empower users to manage and troubleshoot their own data pipelines on our platforms.

Design and implement services ensuring data security and observability, including access controls, data quality tracking, dataset cataloging, and usage auditing.

Transform functional requests from data analysts, ML, and security & compliance into reusable, scalable patterns and assemble data microservices for key business verticals and user cohorts.

Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in software engineering.

Proficient in backend development using Python, Go, or Java.

Experience with data systems and data pipelines.

Familiarity with design patterns such as scale-out, caching, key/value, and columnar.

Ability to analyze data for operational insights using SQL, Python, Airflow, and BI tools.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the cryptocurrency space, including knowledge of onchain activities such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services.
