Project Kuiper is a groundbreaking initiative to establish a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites aimed at delivering low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities worldwide. We are seeking a talented Senior Software Development Engineer to lead the design, development, and maintenance of essential APIs and interfaces that connect Kuiper's capabilities to key US Government customers, including NASA and the Department of Defense.
Key Responsibilities:
Leverage your understanding of network topology and Software Defined Networking to collaborate with the Kuiper network team in creating APIs and interface solutions tailored to unique government customer requirements.
Showcase the functionalities of the interfaces and architectures you develop in a simulated environment you will help create.
Tackle complex technical challenges related to the deployment of the Kuiper constellation for government customers as part of a diverse and multidisciplinary team.
Lead both internal and vendor teams to meet software and interface requirements effectively.
Ensure systems fulfill Kuiper and US Government standards for performance, availability, reliability, upgradeability, interoperability, and security.
Communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders and management clearly and effectively.
Address urgent issues promptly and drive them to resolution in a timely manner.
Provide visual documentation, share results, and communicate findings across various project teams.
This position is based in Redmond, WA, and includes US relocation benefits. Please note that candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance of TS/SCI, and therefore, must be U.S. citizens to be considered.
Basic Qualifications:
5+ years of professional software development experience.
5+ years of experience with at least one programming language.
5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of systems, focusing on design patterns, reliability, and scalability.
Proven experience in a mentoring or tech lead role, guiding an engineering team.
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of comprehensive software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent field.
