The Opportunity We are seeking a  Project Engineer  to join our team in  Raleigh, NC , reporting directly to the  General Manager . This role will lead engineering efforts across North and South Carolina, managing both internal engineering teams and external consulting firms. You’ll support a variety of operations—including crushed stone, sand/gravel, concrete, and asphalt—by overseeing project development, design, and implementation of major plant and infrastructure upgrades.
What You’ll Be Doing Champion safety by ensuring all procedures and practices are followed during projects and site visits. Develop conceptual and final plans, cost estimates, and schedules for capital projects. Apply and promote engineering design best practices across new and existing equipment. Lead all phases of capital projects—from engineering and procurement to construction and start-up—ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and on budget. Prepare and present regular progress and cost reports. Manage external contractors for engineering, fabrication, and construction. Collaborate with regional and global teams, providing updates and reports to stakeholders. Ensure project designs deliver best value in terms of cost per ton, functionality, reliability, and maintainability. Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency enhancements. Provide training and coaching on project management, engineering design, and equipment operation. Communicate effectively across disciplines to ensure alignment and successful project execution.
What Are We Looking For Educational background in Civil, Mechanical, or Mining Engineering—or equivalent practical experience in a related field. Proven capability in engineering or construction, ideally with exposure to the aggregates industry. Familiarity with aggregate processing systems, including crushing/sizing equipment, water systems, conveyors, and dust control. Proficiency with tools such as AutoCAD, AggFlow, and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Experience in aggregates project engineering and/or holding (or working toward) a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is a plus.
Work Environment This role involves a combination of office and field work, including visits to active construction and industrial sites. Travel may be required based on project needs. The position requires adaptability, collaboration, and a strong focus on safety and operational excellence.
