Purpose:

Responsible for evaluating existing processes and configuring systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability, and develop best practices within manufacturing processes. Design and install the most productive engineering systems to permit the Company to achieve its business plans. Work closely with others to assure that all processes, projects, and new production introductions meet or surpass Plant, Government, and customer standards, especially in regard to safety, quality, and efficiency.

Job Functions/Accountabilities (Essential & Marginal):

- Continuously seek out opportunities to improve production and work processes that are consistent with short-term and long-term business objectives.

- Works closely with staff, peers, and leaders to achieve effective communication and exchange of information to ensure business decisions are based on the best available information with respect to safety, budget, schedule, and operational capabilities.

- Designs, implements, and communicates an operational plan for completing projects including project schedules, budgets and forecasts. Documents plan, assembles appropriation requests, and obtains organizational project approvals.

- Responsible for development of RFP packages with appropriate selection criteria and metrics.

- Applies sound engineering principles to projects and works to ensure desired results are achieved on-time and within budget.

Essential Duties:

- Focus on long-term improvement initiatives for chronic, repeating process issues.

- Develop project concept, provide project management, engineering, and construction management in support of capital projects.

- Coordinate development of new procedures as well as modify current procedures as required by the execution of capital projects.

- Support training of operators in new procedures and processes as required.

- Develop scope and implement process changes resulting from business plan, corrective actions, suggestions and other team efforts.

- Identify, lead, implement, and support control systems (DCS/PLC) enhancements and/or upgrades as needed.

- Monitor adherence to plant safety procedures and work with employees at all levels to improve plant safety and 5S performance.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering is required.  

Experience:

Minimum ten years related experience, preferably in a chemical manufacturing environment.

Work Conditions:

Office environment/Chemical Manufacturing Plant environment. Extensive time will be spent in the plant environment. Plant office environment with significant exposure to Plant elements. Plant environment is a multi-acre site that includes high noise levels, some exposure to fumes and dust, and at times working with hazardous materials. This position is expected to spend some time walking through the plant up and down stairs and ladders as required to adequately direct activities in a large multi-acre facility.

Less than 10% travel.
