The Senior Product Engineer will be an individual contributor within the Medtronic Cardiac Rhythm Team. The individual will be involved in all phases of product testing including yield trends, troubleshooting, characterization, and verification of implantable pulse generators (pacemakers), implantable cardioverter defibrillators, and implantable diagnostic devices as well as external patient communicators, programmers, and monitors. The individual will be an integral part of the Test, Inspection, and Metrology organization delivering the highest quality, lifesaving technology to our patients.
Responsibilities include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Provide electrical engineering skills to analyze, and debug product performance including analog and digital circuitry
- Develop production test requirements and support development of manufacturing test applications
- Support manufacturing sites including PCB and Device assembly
- Monitor yield data and trends
- Interpret and decompose system and product requirements, verify compliance
- Create test verification/validation methods, plans, and reports, and coordinate product testing.
- Mentor junior level engineers
- Work within teams to identify and clarify design needs. Work autonomously to prioritize numerous project tasks, identify creative and effective solutions, and complete design tasks according to project schedules.
- Gather information, perform analysis (such as tolerance stack up and surface area calculations), prepare original rough layouts and sketches to present design proposal.
- Create and implement Engineering Change Orders in Medtronic's Product Data Management system following rigorous procedures. This includes leading the cross functional change review and approval process.
- Represent the organization in communicating detailed technical information to both technical and nontechnical audiences within Medtronic and Medtronic's suppliers and regulators
Required knowledge and experience (minimum requirements):
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, or a technical discipline
- Minimum of 4 years of technical work experience in Engineering, Science, or advanced degree in Engineering, Science with 2 years of technical experience.
Preferred skills (nice to have):
- Demonstrated technical leadership ability
- Strong background in PCB design methodology including CAD tools and manufacturing processes
- Experience with Jump, Spotfire, or equivalent analytical tools
- Ability to evaluate and debug electrical designs
- Experience with design, verification, and validation of Class III medical devices or similar regulated product
- Experience with MATLAB, C/C++, LabVIEW and/or Python scripting
- Experience in a regulated industry, preferably with medical devices
- Experience working in or with a manufacturing environment
- Experience with quick turn assignments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work cooperatively as part of a cross functional team
- Experience planning and leading projects and using tools such as Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD): $102,400.00 - $153,600.00 This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
