Base pay range $200,000.00/yr - $250,000.00/yr Additional compensation types Annual Bonus and Stock options Direct message the job poster from Acceler8 Talent Building North American Photonic and Semiconductor Engineering Teams This stealth-stage photonics startup is building advanced electro-optical control systems for next-generation photonic integrated circuits used in high-performance AI and datacenter infrastructure. Their platform integrates silicon photonics, III-V components, and mixed-signal ASICs to enable precise, high-speed control of complex optical subsystems. They are looking for a Photonics Control and Test Engineer to develop control algorithms, test methodologies, and validation systems that ensure stable, high-performance operation across photonic components and subsystems. Locations : Hybrid in San Francisco Bay or Fort Lee, NJ Responsibilities : Develop and implement control algorithms for lasers, ring modulators, MZIs, and optical filters across complex PIC architectures. Design and execute comprehensive test plans for system-level validation under diverse operating conditions. Build automated test scripts using Python or similar tools to validate control loop stability and performance. Analyze large datasets and visualize performance trends to guide design improvements. Collaborate with photonics, hardware, and firmware teams to drive end-to-end subsystem integration and bring-up. Evaluate enabling technologies and contribute to system-level architecture decisions. Requirements : Master’s or PhD in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. 6+ years (Master’s) or 3+ years (PhD) of industry experience in photonics control systems. Strong foundation in control theory (e.g., PID, signal processing) and implementation in software/hardware. Hands-on experience with optical lab equipment such as spectrum analyzers, power meters, and interferometers. Proficiency in scripting (Python preferred) for lab automation and data analysis. Familiarity with photonic system modeling and simulation tools is a plus.
