Job Summary: We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Tactical Aircraft Solutions (TAS) division of Albers. The engineer will work in a multi-disciplinary project team and serve as the Senior Mechanical Engineer. Responsibilities will include the design of structures and mechanical components as required to install avionics, antennas and various mission systems (sensors, radar, etc.) onto fixed wing aircraft for foreign and domestic customers. The engineer will be involved in projects from concept through implementation and work closely with other members of the engineering team, equipment manufacturers and FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DER) to ensure safe and viable designs.
Roles and Responsibilities: Assist in the design and modeling of mechanical components and assemblies using CAD software, ensuring adherence to industry standards Conduct basic engineering analysis to validate design concepts, including stress analysis and thermal considerations Support the creation of technical documentation, including specifications, design reports, and assembly instructions Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather design requirements and address engineering challenges Participate in prototype testing and evaluation, documenting findings and recommending improvements Engage in continuous learning to enhance your technical skills and knowledge of mechanical design best practice Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, software, and quality assurance to ensure integrated system designs. Conduct design reviews and provide mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Responsible for approving mechanical designs that will be implemented on the aircraft Design mechanical and electromechanical parts and systems from conception through production for various aircraft modification programs Work with electrical engineers to produce electromechanical layouts, structures, enclosures and cable routing. Work with production personnel to optimize designs for ease and speed of installation of mechanical systems Track and manage design change requests Provide technical guidance and best practices to other members of the team Resolve discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information independently and recommending corrective action(s). Qualifications: Aerospace experience required. 10 years' experience in the aviation industry B.S. Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degree from an accredited college, MS Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degree preferred Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, adapting to changing priorities Experience working with FAA Structural DER for design approval Knowledge of mechanical/structural engineering analysis, mechanical design, design for manufacturing, integration and test. Experience with FEA tools and/or methodologies to analyze and optimize designs (desired) Experience with Solidworks required Experience with Solidworks ePDM highly desired Experience with CMPro desired Experience creating parts using 3D printers desired Willing and able to work on and around aircraft Excellent interpersonal skills Excellent communications skills; written and verbal Excellent problem-solving skills, able to think ‘outside the box' Self-motivated and able to work from a variety of input sources. The pay for this role is: $115,000 to $125,000 per year (Mooresville, NC)
