SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER / PROJECT MANAGER (15+ years of experience)
BBS is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer/Project Manager for the firm’s Albany office. This senior-level position is perfect for an independent professional who will be responsible for the day-to-day organizational, technical and production aspects for projects of varying types, complexities, scopes and budgets, and will be required to "shepherd" the project development process from conceptual design through substantial completion and final closeout.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for an ambitious and dedicated self-starter with extensive experience in the A/E/C environment. The selected candidate will be a licensed engineer with a minimum of 15 years of successful project management experience on K-12/higher educational and other type of projects. The candidate will also have successful experience with the direct management of employees including other Senior Engineers/Project Managers, project-level architects and engineers, technical designers, and a demonstrated success in winning new business. The candidate should have a dedication to the profession with a strong, self-driven desire to progress.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Independently manages projects from conceptual design through construction closeout, multiple at one time. Provides support on larger projects to other Senior Project Managers.
Leads in-house design teams of project engineers, project designers, technicians and outside consultants, and works well with Construction Managers and client representatives.
Assesses, understands and designs building engineering systems, i.e. building HVAC, heating plant, piping and plumbing systems.
Provides, coordinates and oversees production of construction documents and technical specifications for public bidding. Follows production schedules and is able to meet multiple simultaneous deadlines.
In charge of all Construction Administration on assigned projects including but not limited to adhering to public bidding procedures, Contractor submittal review and management, payment requisition review, attending project meetings, field visits, coordinating with multiple trades/contractors.
Delivers projects that comply with all applicable codes, standards and regulations.
Supports project administration activities including but not limited to staffing projections, time requirements, project fees, cost estimating, billing.
Applies quality, cost, and time control measures as necessary to ensure highest level of client satisfaction.
Supervises other project staff and technical teams of different disciplines, sizes, and skill-levels.
Grows our Albany practice through new business development initiatives including but not limited to lead identification, potential client outreach and follow-up, marketing process support.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent.
15 years of experience as a professional engineer (PE).
Minimum 5 years of HVAC design experience and minimum 10 years of project management experience in consulting environment.
Understand the process and workflow of an A/E project team, work within established cost budgets.
Excellent verbal, written and visual communication skills. Self-driven desire to grow professionally, independence, strong leadership and organizational skills, ability to set and adhere to goals. High-level time management capabilities, meet multiple simultaneous deadlines, delegate tasks, conflict mitigation, client interaction and negotiations, training of staff as needed.
Public presentation capabilities, travel/driving required, occasional night meetings.
High-level of proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office. Knowledge of Revit advantageous.
Successful project track record in the local A/E/C industry within the Capital District, Hudson Valley, Mohawk Valley and Central New York regions. Experience in interacting with various level government agencies and municipalities is a plus.
Preference may be given to a candidate with strong K-12/higher education experience in the noted geographical area.
