Summary :
This role involves engineering design, planning, and project management across all phases—from engineering, procurement, and installation to startup, commissioning, and project closeout—to ensure high customer satisfaction. You will resolve scope-related issues on small to medium projects, ensuring quality, timeliness, and efficiency in designs, and communicate effectively with customers, consultants, field teams, and subcontractors.
A Robotics Automation Engineer will leverage their knowledge in developing, programming, and commissioning laboratory or industrial robotics and automation systems (including SCARA robots, gantry liquid handlers, 6-axis arms, PLC work cells, vision systems, conveyance systems, integration solutions, driver and GUI development). They will also apply their expertise to scientific and manufacturing applications, considering material stability, contamination reduction, and resource management. Familiarity with software tools such as scheduling software, LIMS, MES, or SCADA is essential.
This position requires excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills, along with sound judgment, professionalism, and initiative. The ability to independently initiate and complete projects and reports under deadlines is essential, as is the capacity to prioritize and follow up on requests.
Responsibilities :
Develop, maintain, and optimize Python applications and scripts for laboratory automation.
Design, program, and validate complex liquid handling processes on automated platforms.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements, configure equipment, and implement solutions.
Provide on-site technical support, including installation, commissioning, training, and troubleshooting.
Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including BOMs, operational sequences, and equipment specifications.
Identify and implement solutions for automation challenges.
Represent JSat at industry conferences and trade shows.
Lead client meetings and presentations.
Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with at least 5 years of experience in laboratory automation.
Proven expertise in programming and integrating laboratory automation equipment (e.g., Fanuc, Tecan, Hamilton, Opentrons, Epson, Staubli, Agilent, Precise Automation).
Hands-on experience in biotech or pharmaceutical manufacturing or R&D environments.
Proficiency in Python, C#, or similar programming languages.
Deep knowledge of automated liquid handling platforms (e.g., Hamilton, Tecan, Agilent).
Experience with robotic arms (preferred: Fanuc, Staubli, Precise, URe3).
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Willingness to travel up to 40% domestically and internationally.
Valid driver's license and ability to lift objects up to 30 lbs.
Willingness to work onsite 2 days a week.

Salary DOE : The annual pay range is $130,000 - $160,000, depending on experience and qualifications. This does not include additional benefits such as health insurance and vacation.
