Job Description
EnergyUnited is modernizing the infrastructure that powers our cooperative and we’re seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to lead the way. This role is perfect for a seasoned IT professional with deep expertise in Azure, Office 365, SharePoint, Nutanix, and hybrid infrastructure, including both on-premise systems and cloud technologies.
We're shifting our focus toward cloud-forward architecture and you’ll play a key role in driving that transformation.
What You’ll Do
As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you'll serve as a technical leader across both systems and network architecture. You’ll:
- Architect and implement solutions in Microsoft Azure, including IaaS, PaaS, and cloud migration initiatives
- Support and manage Office 365, SharePoint Online, Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), and related services
- Maintain and optimize Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure and VMware environments
- Balance support for both on-premise systems and cloud-based platforms
- Manage and enhance backup strategies, disaster recovery, and business continuity systems
- Lead infrastructure projects tied to our strategic shift toward cloud-first technologies
- Support core network services, including virtual networks, firewalls, wireless access, and DNS/DHCP
- Collaborate with cybersecurity and application teams to deliver secure, scalable systems
- Serve as an escalation point for complex system and infrastructure issues
- Participate in our on-call rotation and support storm/emergency response when needed
What You Bring
- 5–10 years of experience in enterprise IT infrastructure (systems and network)
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Strong understanding of core networking concepts and virtual networking
- Effective communicator with strong troubleshooting and project leadership skills
Bonus If You Have
- AZ-104 certification (AZ-900 required)
- Experience with Microsoft Teams/VoIP platforms
- Exposure to Linux, SolarWinds, or Cisco environments
Work Environment & Flexibility
- Hybrid role with primary location in Statesville, NC
- Occasional travel and in-office presence based on project needs, in office days on Monday’s and Thursdays
- Participation in a rotating on-call schedule
- Standard hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with flexibility during outages or emergencies.
