Title : Senior Electrical Engineer Location : Woodridge, IL Hire Type : Direct Hire Salary : 100k-$135k/yr. Sterling Engineering is partnering with a global leader in advanced battery systems to bring on a Senior Electrical Engineer. This company designs and manufactures high-quality, reliable, and innovative power systems for portable, motive, and stationary applications. Job Duties : Promote a spirit of teamwork and enthusiasm around fellow engineers. Establish a culture of learning, openness, and accountability. Develop complete electrical designs including schematic, layout, DFM, and BOM generation with EMI/EMC considerations. Design and document analog/digital hardware and robust power path structures for embedded applications. Lead component selection and optimization for microcontrollers and battery/charger management devices. Perform worst-case circuit analysis and simulations using EMA tools. Conduct de-ratings and power stack-up analyses. Provide sustaining support for existing products and work cross-functionally on integration and manufacturability. Conduct Electrical DFMEAs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful system-level integration. Build and support prototypes, including soldering, wiring, debugging, performance evaluations, and improvement identification. Mentor less experienced engineers. Explore new design methods and circuit architectures. Prepare technical reports, product specs, and process documentation. Stay informed on customer feedback and requirements for ongoing product improvement. Qualifications : BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering. Minimum 5 years’ experience in New Product Development and electronics manufacturing (consumer, telecom, automotive, medical, or military sectors). Fluent in English (spoken and written). Strong verbal/written communication and technical writing skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Strong circuit analysis and problem-solving skills. Experience with Altium or OrCAD/Cadence (Altium preferred). Hands-on schematic capture and PCB layout. Deep understanding of analog/digital circuitry and DC power electronics. Familiar with I2C, SPI, RS-232, USB, Ethernet (highly desirable). Experience with BMS and protection circuit design preferred. Exposure to fault-tolerant, redundant, and high-reliability systems is a plus. Desire to have fun while leading development in a fast-paced, diverse work environment.
