Job Duties Lead the design and development of spacecraft power systems, including power generation, energy storage, conversion, and distribution. Perform electrical architecture trade studies to optimize spacecraft power flow, efficiency, and redundancy. Develop and maintain detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, harness designs, and interface definitions. Oversee prototyping, testing, and qualification of spacecraft electrical subsystems for extreme space environments. Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with spacecraft avionics, propulsion, and thermal subsystems. Conduct fault analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective actions for electrical anomalies. Manage component selection, vendor relationships, and procurement to meet mission requirements and budget constraints. Support mission readiness activities, including design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and test readiness reviews. Ensure all designs meet applicable aerospace industry standards and environmental requirements.
Qualifications Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (Masters or PhD preferred). 7+ years of experience in spacecraft or satellite electrical system design, with a focus on power systems. Proven track record in designing batteries, solar arrays, power conversion, and distribution systems for space applications. Experience leading electrical design from concept through manufacturing and launch. Proficiency in electrical analysis tools, simulation software, and CAD for schematic capture and PCB layout. Familiarity with NASA/DoD development lifecycles and milestone reviews. Strong knowledge of high-reliability aerospace components and derating guidelines. Ability to thrive in a dynamic, startup environment with shifting priorities.
Preferred Experience Hands-on spacecraft integration and test experience. Experience with deep-space or high-radiation power systems. Knowledge of space industry standards such as ECSS, IPC, and MIL-STD. Prior involvement in technology maturation from TRL 49. Strong troubleshooting skills for on-orbit anomalies and ground test failures.
