Collins Aerospace is seeking a highly motivated and talented Senior Data Science Engineer with a strong interest in AI/ML and advanced analytics to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about developing and applying data science techniques to solve complex customer problems. This role will involve hands-on experience in machine learning, statistical analysis, and data-driven decision-making to help shape the data strategy and drive insights from large, varied datasets.
What You Will Do:
- Collaborate with data and subject matter experts and customer teams to seek, understand, validate, interpret, and correctly use data and business insights
- Train, validate and deploy machine learning pipelines
- Test, troubleshoot, and enhance customer software applications with and on behalf of customers
- Identify application performance bottlenecks and implement optimizations
- Write application specifications, tutorials and documentation
Qualifications You Must Have:
- 3+ years of experience solving complex problems using data science methods, including applied machine learning (regression, classification, supervised, and unsupervised learning) and time-series data analysis.
- Proficient in scalable machine learning (e.g., MapReduce, streaming) and numpy, panda data science libraries, and skilled in data cleansing, normalization, and version control using Git or similar tools.
- Experience with machine learning model training and analysis through open-source frameworks (Pytorch, Tensorflow, Sklearn) and analyzing model performance with relevant metrics and optimizing.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- MS/PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, or equivalent STEM fields with a strong foundation in linear algebra, calculus, probability, and statistics.
- Able to work independently, drive projects autonomously, and contribute effectively in team settings.
- Skilled in improving processes, systems, or products, mentoring junior engineers, and addressing complex, multi-faceted problems.
- Knowledgeable, motivated, ethical, and focused on advancing organizational goals with strong verbal and written communication skills.
