Our client is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help build and scale high-performance, cloud-native backend services that power millions of API calls. Youll work with modern cloud infrastructure to develop reliable, scalable systems, and play a key role in anticipating and addressing the technical challenges that come with platform growth. You'll work across services built with Python and C#/.NET Core, leveraging AWS (EKS, Lambdas, DynamoDB, Kafka, Postgres, SQS/SNS) to create reliable, scalable infrastructure in a fast-paced startup environment.

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using languages like Python, C#, .NET Core, or equivalents.
• Optimize performance, reliability, and scalability as user and system demands increase.
• Work with cloud-native technologies including AWS (EKS, DynamoDB, Postgres, Lambdas, Kafka, SNS/SQS).
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and data teams to ensure seamless integration and end-to-end system performance.
• Navigate multiple priorities and contexts with agility, while thinking ahead to preempt scaling challenges.
• Take full ownership of key components, leading initiatives from design through production deployment.

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, ideally at high-growth startups
• Strong Python skills with willingness to work in a C# codebase
• Experience with microservices, cloud infrastructure (AWS, EKS), and observability tools (Datadog, Prometheus, CloudWatch)
• Deep database knowledge (Postgres, DynamoDB) and understanding of gRPC/REST
• Previous fintech, brokerage, or trading systems experience is a plus
• Startup-minded: fast learner, strong communicator, and bias toward shipping

• NYC-based (3+ days/week in office)
• Looking for builders title-chasers or job-hoppers
• Must be open to working in both legacy and new systems

• Familiar with AI dev tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude)
