SCADA Engineer

One of Insight Globals major clients are seeking a SCADA Engineer to assist with an ongoing RTU (remote terminal unit) transition project across all statewide substation assets. General responsibilities include:

• Configure new RTUs to meet utility standards.
• Perform bench testing and factory acceptance testing (FAT).
• Validate communication protocols (DNP3, Modbus, IEC 60870, etc.).
• Integrate RTUs with the SCADA master system.
• Update SCADA databases and HMI displays to reflect new RTU data points.
• Ensure accurate telemetry and control functionality.
• Coordinate with field crews for RTU installation and commissioning.
• Troubleshoot communication or wiring issues on-site or remotely.
• Verify point-to-point testing between RTUs and SCADA.

Skills and requirements:

• Existing familiarity with RTU (remote terminal unit) reconfiguration
• Familiarity with various substation communication protocols (DNP3, Modbus, IEC 60870, etc.)
• Prior experience supporting an electric utility/energy provider
• Bachelors degree
