We are looking for an experienced, dynamic, energetic field Sales Engineer based in Northern California. The core function of this position is a professional who combines deep technical knowledge of manufacturing processes and products with strong sales skills to drive business growth. They act as a bridge between the company's engineering and sales teams and the customer, providing technical expertise and support throughout the sales cycle. They interact with customers throughout the United States, selling our highly engineered, custom-built food processing systems.
We are growing rapidly and welcome applicants with direct experience in sales to apply! As a Sales Engineer III-IV, you will use your technical aptitude and problem-solving skills and play an essential role in our pursuit to provide the best solutions to our customers.
Some of the responsibilities of our Sales Engineer: Client Engagement & Sales: They identify and qualify new business opportunities, prepare and deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations, and negotiate contracts and terms. They also build and maintain strong relationships with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions. Ability to sell complex systems as well as single machines
Technical Expertise: A key part of the role is to provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support. This involves answering complex questions, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with internal engineering and production teams to customize products or services to meet customer specifications. They also prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals.
Market Analysis & Strategy: They stay up-to-date on industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor offerings. This knowledge is used to develop sales strategies, identify new market opportunities, and provide feedback to product development and marketing teams.
Travel: This role often requires significant travel (up to 75% is common) to visit prospective and existing clients, attend trade shows, and conduct on-site product introductions and training.
To succeed in this role, a candidate needs a unique combination of technical aptitude and interpersonal skills. Education: A Bachelor's degree in engineering (engineering, technical, or food science) or a related discipline. Experience in a manufacturing B2B sales environment is highly valued.
Technical Skills: The ideal candidate has strong technical product knowledge and a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and principles. They should also be proficient in using CRM software, such as Salesforce, and know presentation software. Food processing industry experience preferred.
Soft Skills: Crucial soft skills include excellent communication and presentation abilities , strong negotiation and problem-solving skills, and the capacity to build rapport and trust with both technical and non-technical audiences. They must be self-motivated, disciplined, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
The successful candidate for this position must be based in, or willing to relocate to, Northern California, with a strong preference for locations in Sonoma County.
Full Time Salaried: 40+ hours per week

Salary DOE: $122,300 to $202,000 depending on experience level
