Sales Application Engineer

FGD is a fast-growing SME concentrated in the field of optical flame and gas detection. As part of its growth initiative, FGD has a requirement for a dedicated application support and training engineer to focus on providing proactive customer support, customer and end-user training, and preparation of support materials and services.
The role is home office based with the potential for travel up to 50% of the time depending on requirements.
The role is part of the sales and marketing function of the organization. It is designed to facilitate growth within the business and provide revenue streams for training, flame and gas mapping, and other related technical services.
Responsibilities:
Deliver onsite and/or customer product and application training
Creation of additional detailed technical materials to be used by customers, and end users in support of FGD products
Providing fire gas mapping solutions for customers using appropriate software that will be delivered as part of an overall flame and gas solution
Maintain the FGD training facility in Anaheim ensuring detectors and accessories are fully functional
Maintain a record of the training database and proactively encourage repeat training for distributors and clients alike
Support the sales team at marketing events such as NFPA, Adipec, and other exhibitions globally
Provide feedback and input for product development and improvement
Delivering demonstrations, training, and product presentations to help clients discover and understand products & services.
The successful candidate will have an engineering background in flame and gas detection and/or security and fire safety.
Experience in gas and flame mapping is advantageous but not essential
A can-do attitude is a must with a proactive approach to customer service

Qualification: Minimum bachelor’s degree or similar in an engineering discipline
Excellent communication and organizational skills;
3-5 years of field service experience, preferably in the Fire Safety and/or Fire & Gas sectors
Good understanding of low voltage and signal systems.
Familiar with digital CCTV camera systems.
Valid driving License and Passport.
Proficient in MS Office, WORD, EXCEL, ACCESS, etc.
Experience with CRM or other database management software a plus.
Writing and supply of technical documentation for new and existing products.
Self-motivated with the ability to take on and drive multiple tasks to completion.
Customer technical service support experience
Ability to travel domestically and overseas. (up to 50%).
Organize and conduct training classes both office-based or distributor/customer site.
Perform other assignments that may be assigned from time to time.
