We have an exciting opportunity for a Rendezvous and Proximity Operations Oversight Software Engineer at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX . If selected, you will: Certify GN&C system requirements compliance through analysis and test report reviews, including sensor performance, trajectory dispersions, and other GN&C parameters. Certify fault tolerance safety requirements by reviewing hazard reports and verification evidence, communicating issues to Safety Review Panel. Identify and recommend solutions to GN&C/RPO performance issues. Communicate compliance review status to ISS program management. Assess visiting vehicle GN&C data for program compliance. Review Monte Carlo trajectory analyses using independent 6-DOF simulations. Contribute to operational products like flight rules and on-orbit demonstration plans. Support visiting vehicle GN&C mission operations during real-time ground monitoring. Maintain relationships with a diverse technical team including engineering, safety, flight operations, crew, and visiting vehicle providers. Perform additional duties as required. Qualifications: This position is posted at multiple levels. Depending on experience, requirements, and needs, we may consider candidates at any of these levels. Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 2-5 years of experience or equivalent. Experience with orbital mechanics and GN&C principles. Understanding of orbit, entry, descent, landing GN&C principles. Knowledge in developing GN&C algorithms and spacecraft system analysis. Experience with GN&C hardware/software design, verification, testing, operation. Proficiency in Linux, Python, C/C++. Experience with space system requirements development and documentation. Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and team skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products. Alternatively, candidates with: Master's degree in engineering with 4 years of related experience or Ph.D. with no experience. MS in Aerospace Engineering focusing on GN&C, flight controls, orbital mechanics. Experience with spacecraft rendezvous, proximity operations, capture/docking. Familiarity with spacecraft docking systems. Knowledge of NASA, JSC, ISS standards, safety, flight operations, documentation, MATLAB, Simulink, Trick, JEOD.
