Reliability Engineer

The Mechanical Reliability Engineer is responsible for improving asset reliability, performance, and uptime through the application of reliability engineering principles and predictive maintenance strategies. This role works closely with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to identify failure modes, reduce equipment downtime, and extend asset life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement reliability strategies to improve mechanical equipment performance and reduce unplanned downtime.
- Perform root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
- Lead reliability improvement initiatives on rotating and static mechanical equipment (pumps, compressors, conveyors, gearboxes, etc.).
- Establish and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance (PdM) programs using techniques such as vibration analysis, infrared thermography, ultrasound, and oil analysis.
- Analyze maintenance and reliability metrics (MTBF, MTTR, OEE) to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Support spare parts management and equipment criticality assessments.
- Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to ensure equipment is properly maintained and reliability goals are met.
- Lead or support capital projects related to equipment upgrades, replacements, and reliability-focused improvements.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Document and standardize reliability procedures and maintenance best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (required)
- 3+ years of experience in a reliability, maintenance, or mechanical engineering role in manufacturing, heavy industry, or process environments
- Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, mechanical systems, and failure analysis techniques
- Familiarity with CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo) and reliability software tools
- Experience with predictive maintenance technologies and data interpretation
- Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) or CMRP is a plus
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills
