RF Communications Lead About the Company Join a stealth-mode space innovator developing a groundbreaking satellite constellation in Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO). The mission: deliver ultra-high-resolution Earth imagery that empowers commercial and defense partners to make smarter decisions. The Opportunity As the RF Communications Lead, you’ll drive the design, integration, and performance of all communications systems across the spacecraft and ground segments. This is a pivotal leadership position where your expertise will shape mission success from initial concept through on-orbit operations. What You’ll Be Doing Leading the architecture and development of RF communication systems for satellite missions, including space-to-ground and inter-satellite links. Defining system-level RF requirements, building link budgets, and running performance simulations across mission phases. Overseeing vendor trade studies and managing selection, integration, and qualification of critical RF hardware (transceivers, antennas, amplifiers, duplexers). Collaborating closely with systems, avionics, and software teams to ensure seamless end-to-end integration. Acting as the technical lead on spectrum licensing and regulatory compliance with bodies such as the FCC and ITU. Planning and executing RF testing in relevant environments. Managing and mentoring a small team of RF engineers, providing hands-on technical guidance. Representing the RF function in customer engagements, proposals, design reviews, and project deliverables. What You’ll Bring Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred). 7+ years of RF engineering experience, with at least 3 years focused on LEO satellite communications. Solid foundation in RF propagation, modulation and demodulation techniques, communication protocols, and avionics transceiver integration. Strong working knowledge of regulatory frameworks, including ITU and FCC requirements. Proficiency in Python for analysis and simulation. Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams through the full development lifecycle. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
