JOB SUMMARY:
The Quality Engineer (QE) is a representative of the Quality Department of Chemring Energetic Devices (CED) and as such they support the Quality Assurance Manager with all aspects related to Customer Requirements, examination of product and preparation of detailed acceptance data packages that may include: Test witnessing, Quality Assurance Records per governing documents, and supporting compliance with customer specifications, internal quality system, regulatory requirements, and applicable laws. As a Quality Engineer (QE), you will be responsible of performing and preparing documentation for all internal and external audits, as well as executing internal Quality Management System audits. The QE is responsible for all activities related to DCMA, ECOs, Project/Program Books, and other delegated activities as needed. The QE is responsible to facilitate, drive and guide Problem Solving, Corrective Actions, Continual Improvement and Customer point of contact for Quality related topics.
Requirements: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Coordinate and facilitate customer required test witnessing and Exam of Product functions, including arranging for and supporting customer source inspections in accordance contractual requirements.
Prepare acceptance data packages.
Review customer contracts, engineering, and manufacturing specifications.
Assist in assuring compliance to customer or industry requirements needed for product design, assembly or other special projects as needed.
Understand and interpret all manufacturing audits, including AS 9100D, ISO 9001, Customer requirements and other industry standards.
In depth understanding of customers and their expectation with regards to inspection and documentation requirements.
Internal efforts to support manufacturing and process improvements including leading corrective action plans and verifying effectiveness.
Provide guidance to other positions within the Quality Organization and CED Organization to assist and support development and problem solving.
Responsible to ensure compliance with CED’s QMS.
Responsible to follow and comply with internal procedures, guidelines, and policies.
Initiates and follow through non-conformance reports (with the support of supervisor or manager) through closure.
Supports the corrective actions process as required.
When delegated, supports all involved activities related to customers (i.e. DCMA, LM, NGC, etc.)
Coordinate, witness and facilitate customer required test witnessing and examination of Product functions, including arranging for and supporting customer source inspections in accordance contractual requirements.
Perform internal audits, prepare audit reports, and follow-up findings to closure
Responsible to complete any other designated and/or delegated activities and responsibilities, directly or indirectly.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited institution or expert skill/experience commensurate.
EXPERIENCE:
4+ years of experience in a first line quality function, e.g. auditing, quality systems coordination, or inspection. 3+ years of experience in inspection activities on a regulated environment (i.e. AS-9100, ISO-9001, etc.)
Experience maintaining and improving a Quality Management System utilizing a strong working knowledge of AS9100 and NADCAP.
Certified GD&T training.
Certified Quality Engineer. Experience with the quality requirements of companies such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, United Launch Alliance, Raytheon, Northrup Grumman.
SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:
3+ years of experience in a quality function: Inspection, Control, Systems, or any other related aspects of Quality.
2+ years of experience on a regulated environment (i.e. AS-9100, ISO-9001, etc.)
Able and capable to interpret/read blueprints – Demonstrable knowledge in GD&T.
Problem solving techniques (Ishikawa, 5W, Is-Is Not, etc.).
Comfortable interacting with customer quality representatives and inspectors
Advanced computational skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, D365)
Strong verbal and written skills and ability to work effectively with internal and external customers.
Able to work on a fast-paced environment with Low/High Volume and High Mix configuration.
Highly motivated and organized
Must be eligible to possess explosive under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) for all employees of Chemring Energetic Devices.
PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects, weighing up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or a negligible amount of weight frequently. Involves sitting much of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Use of computer.
