Quality engineer Overview The Quality Engineer will work with all departments providing solutions to quality problems of major significance and will provide technical guidance and assistance to quality and manufacturing personnel. General duties include: internal and external audits and corrective actions, supporting Product Investigation Reports, Customer Contract Review, reducing scrap & rework, maintaining the Approved Supplier list and dealing with customer and supplier quality performance issues. Annual Salary: $95,000 - $100,000 Duties and Responsibilities Direct support for AS9100 quality management system (QMS) compliance, including internal audits, corrective action system and applicable projects
Improves key quality metrics of scrap and rework by implementing and supporting lean and continuous improvement activities
Drives the operation to reduce scrap and rework by leading continuous improvement projects
Determines most effective methods for inspection techniques
Implements standardization of inspection techniques across manufacturing, assembly, and supplier
Supports manufacturing on determining critical manufacturing factors that contribute to high quality of the product
Provides guidance, support, and training for corrective action activities in the manufacturing floor
Statistical methods to control and evaluate process capabilities, such as SPC, machine capabilities and gauge R&R
Provides subject matter expertise while interacting internal, external customers by meeting regularly, responding to requests, and resolving issues as they may rise
Implements PPAP, process flows, FMEAs, controls plans and capability assessment when appropriate
Reviews contractual requirements for quality compliance, flow down requirements to all levels of the organization, and creation of customer compliance matrix
Generates, reviews and processes Quality non-conformances, conduct containment, obtains disposition, evaluates root causes and implements corrective action as required
Mentors team members on quality practices
Performs other related duties as required and assigned
Education and Experience BS degree or equivalent required
Experience in aircraft component testing, tear down and analysis
Experience in report writing and customer communication
Familiar with program knowledge of basic SPC, MSA, Gage R&R
Working knowledge of customer and regulatory requirements, including FAR part 21 and FAR-145 preferred
Proficient at blueprint reading, engineering drawing interpretation and tolerancing
Experience/familiarity with AS9100/ISO9001 quality standards
AS13100 training is preferred
Knowledge in Inspection and test methodologies
Ability to perform PFMEA and Production Flowcharts
Knowledge of Lean and/or six-sigma process preferred
Advanced knowledge of Quality, manufacturing engineering processes and regulatory requirements
ASQ certified quality engineer is preferred
