My client is a privately held, family-founded specialist in advanced coatings and finishing services based in Hicksville, NY with roots dating back to over 50 years. Their specialisations include surface coatings, precision grinding and finishing, and metallurgy. They have a well diversified client based within the sectors of Aerospace, Defense and Military, and Nuclear Energy.
Job Description
The key responsibilities of the Quality Engineer are:
- Monitor and maintain compliance with industry and customer quality requirements (AS9100).
- Conduct root cause analysis and lead corrective/preventive actions (RCCA) using 8D, Fishbone, or similar methodologies.
- Support internal and external audits, including NADCAP audits.
- Develop and update inspection plans, work instructions, and quality procedures.
- Perform and review first article inspections (FAI) to AS9102 standards.
- Review and approve process and product certifications, test data, and material traceability.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Production to improve process capability and reduce non-conformances.
- Assist in the management and reporting of key quality metrics (yield, scrap, customer complaints, etc.).
- Train and support production personnel on quality standards and procedures.
- Coordinate with metallurgical lab and inspection teams for product validation and release.

The Successful Applicant
The successful Quality Engineer will have the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or aerospace quality role.
- Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, and NADCAP requirements.
- Proficient in using measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, comparators) and GD&T interpretation.
- Experience with FAI, SPC, FMEA, control plans, and CAPA processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP/MRP and quality management systems a plus.
