Project Structural Engineer

LHB has an immediate opportunity for a Project Structural Engineer to join our Energy and Industry team. The position will be based in our Duluth or Minneapolis, Minnesota offices.
Position Summary
The responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to:
Work effectively in hybrid work environment
Work closely with current and prospective customers to create new business opportunities
Produce designs, drawings and specifications that our clients will use to execute their projects
Apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices, and functions in a lead engineering role for segments of projects including preparation of required design plans, applications, and reports
Maintain high satisfaction ratings from clients through superior service, quality workmanship, timely production and quick project turnaround, and thorough understanding of client requirements
Provide onsite engineering support including regular site visits
Provide day-to-day guidance, motivation and development of subordinates
Prepare forecasts of workload for assigned staff
Supervise other engineers, designers, and technicians.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college
6 years’ experience in structural engineering associated with the mining, pulp and paper, substation and energy, pipeline, and/or other industrial projects
Professional Engineer licensure and ability to become licensed in additional states upon request
Demonstrated working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite, REVU Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat and structural analysis software such as RISA and/ or STAAD
Must be willing to travel intermittently
Ability to climb ladders, enter confined spaces, and work outside in all weather conditions
Upon receipt of an offer of employment, applicants must be able to successfully complete pre-employment onboarding requirements that will include a criminal/civil background check and drug screen, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations
Preferred Qualifications
Experience using AutoCAD and Revit
Design experience includes steel, concrete, timber, and masonry structures as well as specialized analysis and inspections
Possess excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, time management and problem-solving skills
Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
Experience with project management, proposal development, and marketing
Proven ability to manage and mentor staff
