Project Engineer - Civil

We are looking for a Project Engineer to join our team in Atlanta. This role will be responsible for taking on more complex design tasks and contributing to the technical aspects of engineering projects in our transportation/civic group. It involves working closely with senior engineers, managing portions of projects independently, and ensuring that designs meet both technical and regulatory requirements. Primary Essential Functions: Lead the development of engineering designs for complex components of projects, including preparing detailed technical drawings and calculations. Perform engineering analyses, calculations, and simulations to verify that designs meet client, code, and regulatory requirements. Use design software (e.g., MicroStation, Roadworks, etc.) to create detailed models, schematics, and construction documents that align with project specifications. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, and contractors, to ensure the seamless integration of building systems. Conduct research on materials, technologies, and applicable regulations to ensure that designs are compliant with industry standards and best practices. Participate in project management activities, including scheduling, task coordination, and managing deliverables to ensure timely project completion. Attend client and team meetings to present design concepts, provide technical updates, and address project concerns. Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress, resolve technical issues on-site, and ensure that design intent is being followed during execution. Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities): Knowledge Strong understanding of GDOT engineering principles, building systems, and construction methods. Familiarity with transportation design codes data base development, and environmental regulations. Advanced knowledge of technical documentation processes and construction administration. Awareness of emerging technologies and industry trends in engineering. Proficiency in design software and engineering modeling tools (e.g., MicroStation, Roadworks, etc.) Skills Advanced technical drafting and detailing skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for addressing design challenges. Communication skills for interacting with clients, consultants, and project teams. Time management and organizational skills for balancing multiple project responsibilities. Ability to lead portions of projects and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams. Abilities Ability to manage design tasks independently and make informed technical decisions. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to clients and team members. Ability to perform field inspections and verify that construction meets design specifications. Ability to manage project timelines and ensure that deliverables are completed on time. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions. Qualifications: Required Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET-accredited university. 4-8 years of experience in engineering design and project delivery. Preferred Experience with complex or large-scale engineering projects.
